I. Sheng Mansion: the Most Legendary Century-old Garden in Shanghai
百年淮海路展现的不仅是上海的繁华和时尚，还有经典和优雅。淮海中路1517号，有一座美丽豪华的花园别墅，上海人习称“盛公馆”。
Apart from prosperity and fashion, features of classics and elegant of Shanghai can also be displayed along the century-old Huaihai Road. Located at No.1517, Huaihai Middle Rd., a grand garden villa is known as Sheng Mansion among Shanghai people.
盛重颐原是盛家兄弟中比较持重守业的一个，买下此花园，他的事业蒸蒸日上。抗战胜利后，荣宗敬先生的二儿子荣鸿三买下盛公馆，并在此举办了一场堪称世纪婚礼的豪宴。
Sheng Zhongyi, a discreet son in the Sheng family, bought the garden as result of his flourishing career. After the Anti-Japanese War ended, Rong Hongsan, second son of Mr. Rong Zongjing, became the owner of Sheng Mansion, where a luxurious feast for wedding was held.

II. Lilac Garden: the first garden villa with Chinese and Western architectural styles in Shanghai
丁香花园是典型的上海早期花园住宅，由李鸿章为其幼子李经迈购置。寓居丁香花园之后，精通英文的李经迈专注房地产生意，跟外国人打交道，抓住各种市场机会，股票和地产增值无数倍。成为了颇具传奇色彩的巨富，是李鸿章家族中的佼佼者。
Lilac Garden is a typical garden house in earlier Shanghai, purchased by Li Jingmai, the youngest son of Li Huang-Chang. After making his home in Lilac Garden, Li Jingmai, who was proficient in English, focused his mind on real estate. He often made contact with foreigners and seized various market opportunities. As a result, his stock and real estate were multiplied tremendously, which made him become a legendary tycoon and outstanding person in the Li’s family.
丁香花园也是上海最负盛名、保存最为完好的洋房之一。
Lilac Garden maintains one of most prestigious and well-preserved foreign style house in Shanghai as well.
三、 浮沉半世的“白公馆”——雍园1号
III. Yong Yuan No.1: White Residence with ups and downs for half a lifetime
白公馆，坐落在上海西区颇具诗意的的汾阳路上。当你不经意地踩晌这儿的落叶时，耳边还会响起一股流水般的钢琴或小提琴声，而在浓郁的悟桐树后的一座座幽静的花园里，一幢幢风格迥异、各呈奇姿的小洋楼正若隐若现......白公馆就是其中之一。
White residence is located at the poetic Fenyang Road in the western Shanghai. Stepping on fallen leaves casually with sweet melody played by piano or violin reaching your ears, you might notice there are peaceful gardens behind the phoenix trees, inside which western-style houses with different features appear indistinctly. White Residence is among them.
所谓"白公馆"，是因为白崇禧、白先勇父子居住过而名噪上海。昔日的将军故居，今日依旧名流汇集。
The house got its reputed name as White Residence in Shanghai for the reason that Pai Chung-his and Pai Hsien-yung, father and son, had lived here. The former residence of the General is still gathered with celebrities nowadays.

IV. Sir Elly Kadoorie’s Residence: Noah’s Ark for the Jews
上海延安西路64号，坐落着一座卓然不群的建筑——嘉道理爵士公馆，它的原主人艾里•嘉道理，英籍犹太人，想想就是天生做生意的料儿。以500港币起家，日后成为沪港两地都鼎鼎有名的实业大老板。作为上海最富盛名的犹太家族之一，嘉道理家族首先成为组织集体援助犹太人活动的发起人。
Located at No.64, Yan’an West Rd. in Shanghai is an outstanding building, which is Sir Elly Kadoorie’s Residence. Its former owner is Elly Kadoorie, a British Jew, who started his business with 500 Hong Kong dollars and then became a rich businessman famous both in Hong Kong and Shanghai. As one of most reputed Jewish family in Shanghai, his family initially organized activities to help the Jew.
因此，嘉道理爵士公馆，成为犹太人在上海的“诺亚方舟”。
Therefore, the Residence became Noah’s Ark for the Jew in Shanghai at that time.
五、 地产大王的乡村度假别墅：沙逊别墅
V. Sasson’s Villa: village restore and spa of the real estate tycoon
20世纪20年代，远东第一大都市上海成为“冒险家的乐园”，沙逊同样垂涎于此。
In 1920s, Shanghai, the biggest metropolis in the Far East, was a paradise for the adventurers. Sasson was one of them.

He achieved a huge success through the real estate business in Shanghai. And Sasson House made him famous, becoming a true real estate tycoon in Shanghai. Then he built Rubicon Garden, the Garden of Eden of his own, in Shanghai Hongqiao Road. In this private villa with British country style, Sasson spent his most beautiful time in Shanghai, which was an unforgettable memory during his time in China.
六、 民国第一家族的美丽花园：宋氏老宅
VI. Soong’s Residence: a gorgeous garden of the first family in the Republic of China
上海陕西北路充满人文气息、优雅宁静，这里演绎了难以数清的历史故事，也有众多的历史人物在此出现。民国第一家族——宋氏老宅正坐落于此。
Shaanxi North Road in Shanghai is covered with cultural atmosphere and tranquility, where numerous historical stories happened and masses of historical figures appeared. Soong’s Residence, the first family of the Republic of China, is situated here.
1887年，宋耀如与倪桂珍结婚，养育了三女三男六个儿女，并不惜重金送他们出国深造。从这里走出的“宋氏三姐妹”正是在他们的呵护、哺育和熏陶下成了轰动中国政治对台的各具风采的女性。
In 1887, Charlie Soong got married with Ni Guizhen and then brought up three daughters and three sons. All of them were sent to go abroad for further study at any cost. Under care and edification of their parents, the Soong Sisters, women with different elegant manners, had tremendous impact on Chinese politics to Taiwan.
七、 法国文艺复兴式建筑经典：马歇尔公馆
VII. Marshall Mansion: the building classics with French renaissance style
今太原路160号的太原宾馆，是旧上海最豪华的花园洋房，当时上海人称为“马歇尔公馆”，因为1945年冬至1947年春，美国的马歇尔将军作为总统杜鲁门的特使，下榻在此处调解国共两党和谈。
Taiyuan Hotel in No. 160, Taiyuan Road, is the former luxurious garden house in Shanghai, which was named as Marshall Mansion at that time. It got its name as Marshall Mansion because Marshall, an American General, stayed here as a special envoy of President Hurry Truman to mediate the peace talk between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party of China from the winter of 1945 to the spring of 1947.
追根寻迹，这幢豪宅原是法国律师狄百克的私人花园别墅，称狄百克花园，是狄百克于1928年仿照法国路易十四皇宫建筑设计建造，1941年被岑德广购下，是一幢完整的法国晚期文艺复兴式花园住宅。
It is tracked that the mansion was the private garden villa of a French lawyer. He built the garden following the architectural design of French Louis XIV’s palace in 1928. It was purchased by Cen Deguang in 1941. It is a well-preserved garden house with French renaissance style.
八、 财政部长的法式花园洋房：宋公馆
VIII. Song Residence: a garden house with French style of the Finance Minister
宋公馆位于南京市玄武区鸡笼山北极阁1号，这是一座居高临下的瑰丽建筑。宋子文居于此时，依靠自己超众的理财能力，不到三十岁，这位美国哈佛大学经济学硕士和哥伦比亚大学的博士，即成为国民党的大管家，历任中央银行行长、财政部长、外交部长、中国首任驻联合国大使、行政院院长。
Song Residence, an outstanding building, is located at No.1 Beijige, Jilong Mountain, Xuanwu District in Nanjing. Soong Tse-ven once lived here and he became the finance minister of the Republic of the China before his thirty due to his outstanding financial management. At that time, he, a master of economics of Harvard University and doctor of Columbia University, has served successfully as Central Bank governor, finance minister, foreign minister, China’s first ambassador to the United Nations and the President of Executive Department.
这座法式花园洋房，记录了权倾一时的宋子文大展才华的风光岁月。
The French garden house witnessed the prosperity of Soong Tse-ven at that time.
九、 蒋介石与宋美龄的上海洋房：爱庐
IX. Company Love: a foreign-style house of Chiang Kai-shek and Song Meiling
蒋介石与宋美龄的爱情，正如蒋介石亲笔题写并镌刻在花园假山石上的“爱庐”二字，隽永不变。
The love story between Chiang Kai-shek and Song Meiling is as everlasting as the two characters “Ai Lu” (Love the Company in English) engraved in the rockery design of the garden which was inscribed by Mr. Chiang himself.
1922年12月，宋美龄在孙中山家中第一次见到蒋介石时便一见钟情，其后便开始鸿雁传书，感情与日俱增。蒋介石对宋美龄开展了长达5年的热烈追求，后正式举行了婚礼。
On December 1922, Song Meiling fell in love with Mr. Chiang at the first sight in Sun Yat-sen’s house. After that, they started to write letters to each other, which promoted their feelings. They finally got married after a five-year dating.
爱庐，静静地记录了蒋介石与宋美龄婚后的生活，成就民国一段传奇的爱情佳话。

十、 西子湖畔的友谊之殿：春润庐
X. Chun Run Cottage: a friendship house beside the West Lake
位于杭州北山路上的春润庐，见证了宋春舫和朱润生的深厚友谊，两人于庐内建造了两栋别墅，即在各自的名字中取一字取名春润庐。
Chun Run Cottage, located at the Beishan Road in Hangzhou, witnessed the friendship of Song Chunfang and Zhu Run-sheng. Both of them built a villa in the cottage respectively, then named it as Chun Run Cottage.
宋、朱两位主人的事业大，广交天下好友，每每听闻朋友将抵杭，必然盛邀至私邸。南来北往的闻达之士，在春润庐里风流云散。谈笑有鸿儒。譬如宋春舫的上司、北大校长蔡元培，就在这里托付过一段隐居时光。
Mr. Song and Mr. Zhu, with great career, liked to befriend with others. Every time when they knew their friends arrived at Hangzhou, it is a must to invite them to the cottage. Eminent people around China gathered in the cottage, talking and laughing. Cai Yuanpei, the leader of Song Chunfang and President of Peking University, spent a secluded time here.
春润庐有这样交游甚广的主人，真正是不辜负这一片青山隐隐碧水沉沉了。
The owner of Chun Run Cottage is so like to make friends that it does not waste such a beautiful landscape.
十一、冒险家的童话迷宫：马勒别墅
XI. Moller Villa: a fairy tale labyrinth for the adventurers
马勒美丽的小女儿做了一个绮丽的梦，梦中的她走进了安徒生童话中描写的一幢坐落在云端里的长满尖尖角的华丽城堡里。城堡竟然像船一样摇动起来，在一望无垠的海洋里驶向父亲的英格兰故乡。
Moller’s little girl made a amazing dream, in which she walled into a magnificent castle like what is described in Andersen’s Fairy Tales. Suddenly, the castle shook just a ship, heading to her father’s homeland, England.
醒来后，向父亲讲述了这一奇幻的梦境。马勒为之感动，他理解这是女儿对他的爱和对故乡的思念，当即决定建造女儿梦境中的“安徒生童话城堡”。历时7年，打造了这座北欧挪威建筑风情的城堡式别墅。
She represented the amazing dream to her father when she woke up. Moller was moved by the dream and realized it was the love from his daughter and the thought for the native land. Therefore, he decided to build a castle just like the one in her daughter’s dream. It took almost seven years to forge such a castle-style villa with Norway features.
十二、“民国厅人”的西湖别苑——静逸别墅
XII. Jingyi Villa: “Zhang Jingjiang’s” West Lake Garden
西湖北岸葛岭的静逸别墅，每日伴着清脆的鸟鸣起身，伴着星月同眠。时任浙江省政府 的张静江寓居于此。张静江与夫人伉俪情深，别墅“静逸”之名，各取于张、朱二人姓名中的第二字。
Jingyi Villa is located at the Geling of the north side of the West Lake, with birds’ song in the morning and moon and stars in the evening. Zhang Jingjiang, chairman of Zhejiang provincial government at that time, lived in the villa. Mr. Zhang and his wife were very much in love with each other, so that they named the villa as Jingyi, two Chinese characters from their name.
1929年在宁静的西湖风光中，张静江以极大的聪明才智，主持创办了首届西湖博览会。静逸别墅既是张静江先生事业的福地，更是他和夫人爱情的见证地。
In 1929, Mr. Zhang hosted the first West Lake Exposition with his great brilliance in the villa. It can be said that Jingyi Villa is not only the blessing land for Mr. Zhang’s career, but also the witness of the love with his wife.
